Thanks to the Cayman Compass for all the coverage.
Our sincere thanks to Sarah Bridge and the team at the Cayman Compass for their thoughtful coverage of the Phoenix House groundbreaking. Sarah wrote the story and took the photographs, and the Compass team has given Phoenix House outstanding support throughout Recovery Month. Thank you.
On 18 September, The Bridge Foundation broke ground on Phoenix House, a purpose-built, gender-specific transitional home for women in recovery on Hell Road, West Bay. As our Chairman Scott Haugh put it: "It's been a long time coming and we're so excited that we're finally here."
Phoenix House will provide safe housing, reconnection with family, work opportunities through our partner Beacon Farms, and practical help such as recovering lost identification and banking. Dr Ryan Punambolam, Clinical Director of Neurology at Doctors' Hospital, explained why this matters. Returning people straight from detox to their old environments can restart the cycle of addiction.
Thank you to Governor Jane Owen, Minister Nickolas DaCosta, Parliamentary Secretary Wayne Panton, the Haugh family, our donors and everyone who joined us.
